3 Bottle Shops in British Columbia to Support After Dry January

Is it possible to love and hate something at the same time? Because that’s how most of us feel about Dry January. We love it because it’s one of those resolutions that really test your will power. If you can do this, you can do anything. At least that’s what it feels like. But then we hate it because, well, we don’t get to drink. And being forced to stay at home, even though it’s for our communities’ safety, makes it even harder not to crack a can every now and then.

But hey, as one popular author would say, “We can do hard things” (thanks, Glennon Doyle). What’s not so hard is supporting local bottle shops in British Columbia once Dry January (or Dry February—your call!) is over. If you’re not on the local bandwagon right now, you should be. Supporting the small businesses that define communities’ culture is an absolute must, especially right now when they need it most.

3 bottle shops in British Columbia to order pickup or delivery

Think of all the times local spots have been there for you. For those after-work drinks, weekend brunches with friends, birthdays with more friends. Small businesses are like friends that let you come into their home any time you need something. Well, now it’s time to say thank you. Check out these  local bottle shops in B.C.

1. 33 Acres Brewing Company

Location: 15 W 8th Avenue, Vancouver

Store hours: Same day delivery from Wednesday to Saturday on orders placed before 2:00 p.m.

33 Acres Brewing

When you land on the 33 Acres website, it feels like they should be selling fashion or maybe designing architecture in Singapore. But when you understand the passion they share for brewing, it becomes clear why they feel closer to a lifestyle brand than a brewing company. Creative thinking and conversation are the pillars of 33 Acres, along with some great beer!

2. Steel and Oak Brewery

Location: 1319 Third Avenue, New Westminster

Store hours: Monday – Tuesday 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Wednesday – Saturday 12:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

It’s all about being indie when it comes to Steel and Oak. They take a modern approach to brewing but with a traditional dedication to craftsmanship. In the end, what they really care about is great tasting beer, and that’s what they’ve achieved. They ship all across BC but offer curbside pickup for locals.

3. Dageraad Brewing

Location: 3191 Thunderbird Crescent 114, Burnaby

Delivery schedule: Monday – Friday from 12:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. They have select days for different parts of Vancouver. Check their delivery schedule for details.

Dageraad Brewery was Canada’s brewery of the year in 2018. That’s high praise when you think of how many amazing brewers there are across the country. They also have a tasting room that’s currently open, so if you’re comfortable and following the rules, hop on the bus and check them out.

Stay safe and congratulate yourself

Getting through dry January or February is no small feat. Your willpower is on 100 right now, and you can pretty much do anything you want. But now that it’s over doesn’t mean you need to dive into being irresponsible. It’s still important to stay safe right now and try your best to follow all the pandemic protocols in your area.

It’s also a good idea to support your local breweries right now. They’ve made it easy to order delivery or curbside pickup. And we’ve made it easy by listing a few of the best local bottle shops in B.C. We also want to keep you safe should you happen to take public transit. Our Rocketman’s Transit Crowdedness feature lets you see how crowded the next bus is so you can decide how comfortable you are riding.
