5 Ways to Make Your Commute Less Stressful During the Pandemic

Reading Time: 4 minutes

We’re all trying to adjust. Every day it’s something different that makes us just a little bit hopeful or sends us into a new state of uncertainty. That’s OK. Well, it’s not, but we’re going to do our best to make it work because that’s what we have to do.

And that’s what Rocketman will do. Maybe you need to jump on a bus or streetcar because you have no choice. With all that’s going on right now, what used to be a simple commute can now stir up some anxiety. So our goal is simple; to help take away at least some of your stress if and when you do need to use public transit.

Steps for improving your commute using Rocketman

We have a set of features that can help ease the anxiety of your commute and hopefully make you more comfortable as you ride public transit. Some are new, some have always been there, but we want to show you why you should be using them every single time it’s necessary to hop on a bus.

Step 1: Plan your morning

Rocketman feature: Transit predictions and bus tracking

OK, you got this. With all the restrictions, you don’t want to be outside a minute longer than you need to be and now you won’t have to. Rocketman’s Transit Prediction and Bus Tracking feature lets you know exactly what time the next buses will be at your stop. There’s a 7:45 a.m. bus, but according to the tracking, there’s also one at 7:50 a.m. Use those extra five minutes to take a deep breath and enjoy that last sip of coffee.

Step 2: Decide how long you wait

Rocketman feature: Real-Time Countdown

Our guess is you’d rather not be waiting for your bus outside in the middle of January for any longer than you need to (We know B.C., you’re special). With our Real-Time Countdown feature, you won’t have to. This feature counts down the time till your train or bus arrives. No guessing or breaking your neck to see if your train or bus is somewhere in the distance. And for those days when you want some extra air, you can get outside a few minutes early.

Step 3: Accept that “stuff happens”

Rocketman feature: Service Alerts

You’re sitting on your couch enjoying that cup of coffee when you pop open Rocketman. You notice a Service Alert that says your bus will be delayed. It sucks, but now you know before you’ve stepped outside, so you have options – you can decide whether you’re willing to wait or make some other plans to get to work.

Step 4: Avoid the crowds

Rocketman Feature: Crowdedness

The pandemic has made us all reconsider what it means to put our safety first. With our Crowdedness feature, you’re able to know if the next bus is crowded, getting crowded, or not crowded. This can help you make an informed decision about your comfort level before getting on to the bus.

Step 5: Make the most of the weekend!

Rocketman feature: transitcrowds.com

We know this is still a ways away, but when it becomes OK to move around again for social events; you’ll want to finally change it up and commute to places you don’t regularly go. For that reason, Rocketman has introduced Transit Crowds. It’s an online web tool that allows you to track crowdedness trends on different transit routes. You can then plan your route according to when crowding on buses will be at a minimum.

Rocketman helps you arrive on time

The goal with any of our features is to help improve your commute. At Rocketman, we want you to have the information you need to plan your commute and feel comfortable as you’re commuting. Even as you get back into your routine, we know that every day is just a little bit different. The Rocketman app is dynamic and helps you adjust to at least this one part of your day.

Rocketman keeps you ahead of your commute. With real-time transit alerts, travel times and our new crowdedness feature, you’ll always be prepared for your daily commute.
