Proof of Purchase or POP is required to ride all YRT and Viva vehicles. When you ride Viva, you are required to pay your fare before entering the Fare Paid Zone. Customers riding without a valid fare can face a find or even a criminal charge.
You can use a single fare to ride any YRT vehicle, in any direction, for two hours. The transfer period is value from the time of issue or validation, and you need to have completed your trip within that two hour time frame (or pay a second fare).
If you are transferring to another YRT route or using Viva Rapid Transit service and are paying with cash or ticket fare, make sure that you ask for a transfer when you pay.
In addition to regular fare, YRT has other pass options available to transit riders (though some require specific eligibility). Those passes include:
- Monthly passes (in adult, children, youth, senior, and express categories)
- YRT Ride to GO (allows you to travel to and from GO Train stations for just $1 to avoid parking at the station)
- Travel Assistance Program (for eligible residents that need more affordable transit)
- YRT@Work Pass Program (discounted monthly passes purchased through your employer)
